History

Bretton Woods Recreation Center was established by the International Monetary Fund in 1968 in order to provide attractive and non-discriminatory recreational facilities for its staff, retirees and immediate family. The staff of other international treaty organizations and embassies were also invited to join as associate members. Additionally, families who do not qualify under the previous criteria may also be admitted as members through the sponsored member program.

Located next to the C&O Canal and the Potomac River, the Center's spectacular natural setting is ideal for relaxation. With 285 acres of manicured turf and mature trees, you can experience golf, tennis, soccer, swimming and other outdoor sporting activities. Our pavilion area can be used for outdoor picnics or gatherings. The Center's Clubhouse boasts two dining rooms with scenic views of the golf course, a banquet room for special events and space for corporate meetings and events.
